Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Goal 11: make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable , 13 take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Most people are still directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. The terracotta bricks used in the country's construction industry are made using the fertile soil of the agricultural land. This is having a negative impact on agriculture. on the other hand, the food security of the country is facing a major threat. In order to ensure the food security of the country and protect agriculture and keep agricultural activities uninterrupted, the agricultural land and the fertile soil used in agriculture must be protected For this reason, the use of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks as a next technology made of cement-sand, aluminum metal powder, lime, rice husk ash as an alternative to terracotta bricks should be spread at all levels. At present, the researc program of AAC block is ongoing at HBRI. From the results obtained through the said research program, it is possible to produce AAC blocks of 700-900 psi strength. AAC blocks are environmentally friendly as no toxic materials are used in making these bricks. The manufacturing process results in 50% less greenhouse gas emissions and 30% less solid waste . The porous material of AAC blocks naturally helps absorb moisture and, as a result, maintains less humidity, less humidity indoors. It is very important to increase the use of lightweight, earthquake-resistant environmentally friendly AAC blocks. |
